Get to know Elizabeth Aghassi

What's the 'story of you'?

The story of me! Well to start, I was born and raised in Northern California. I am the oldest of three and have a brother and sister that truly are my best friends. My mom was raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and my dad is from Iran, so you can only imagine holidays - think My Big Fat Greek Wedding but with Appalachians and Middle Easterners - it was an amazing childhood. My Assyrian nickname is Zabo, similar to Liz, and that name has stuck on both sides of the family.

My sister has a little boy that is 7 and my brother also has a little boy the same age and twin girls that are 6. Needless to say, my weekends are packed with baseball games, ballet classes and recitals. I swear my nephews think I’m a teenager and want to play ball with me 24/7 and I love every minute of it. I am quite the prankster and have told tales of anacondas under the bed and then proceeded to buy remote control snakes and scare them! These kids truly are my world.

I have 2 other loves - wine and Post Malone. Why are both so amazing?

What does your job as VP, Business Development entail?

I’m incredibly lucky that I have worn most hats at ProspectNow* and that really helped me learn to work with our enterprise customers. I get to maintain relationships with Relationship Managers and a few of the top banks in the country and really understand their needs and then help them achieve their goals with our software. It’s truly amazing to hear their success stories - it’s contagious!

What motivated you to show up to a Culture Committee meeting...and then keep showing up?

I was hoping to meet a few new people when I joined my first culture committee meeting and boy did that happen. It was nice to see folks from different departments and how their teams operate and what we can all do to help Buildout be a better place to work.

For curious readers, Buildout's Culture Committee is a group who meets regularly with the purpose of fostering a thriving and supportive culture for the People of Buildout by representing their collective voice, allocating resources effectively, and turning ideas into action.

What's it been like to work on a fast-growing team?

It has been fun and overwhelming all at the same time! I’m surrounded by brilliant people that are full of new ideas and are open to hearing my ideas. We are reshaping commercial & residential real estate and I’m so excited to be a part of it. All these years later and I still learn something new every day!

What advice would you give to a candidate interested in joining your team?

Buckle up and hold on because you’re about to get on an incredible ride! The innovation coming out of all teams is unparalleled!

What would you like a candidate to know about working on the sales team?

This team is more like family. Everyone is always willing to help and will always make time for you. People are patient, resourceful and ambitious.

Lightning round

How would you describe our culture?

Our culture is one of its kind. Everyone is unique and different and proud of it.

What has been your favorite company social event and why?

I absolutely loved last year’s SKO and holiday dinner. It was so great to meet so many people that I hadn’t had the opportunity to meet before.

What is your go-to TV show or movie?

Friends - you can never go wrong with Friends. I’m just rewatching Ballers and love love love football! Go Niners!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

So many things! I wanted to be a doctor, attorney, an FBI agent and a real estate agent.

What is an atypical accomplishment you're proud of?

I can cook just about anything. It’s nice have southern roots from my mom and middle eastern roots from the dad because when the two worlds collide you get some of the best dishes ever.
