We want to be allies but what does that mean?
“Allyship is the continuous process in which someone with privilege and power seeks to first learn about the experiences of a marginalized group of people, and then ultimately empathize with their challenges and build relationships with that group of people” – Hubspot
Education, awareness, and action are key to combating systemic racism. As you’re trying to figure out what to do, how to help, where to give, and even where to start—there is so much information that it can undoubtedly feel overwhelming.
The following is a journey of education, reflection, and action that you can embark upon over the next 30 days and beyond.
These are small steps that anyone can take right now and every day to help fight systemic racism and stand with our friends and families of color and turn allyship into a verb.
A friend shared the general framework for an Allyship Challenge with me, and then I worked on what was provided to make the resources more relevant to Buildout. I hope it helps you in the beginning of your continual journey of Allyship.
